Scientific Activity:

My research focuses on climate variability at interannual and decadal-to-centennial time scales, with a special interest in the role played by the ocean in shaping our climate, in the mechanisms behind the inherent variability and predictability of the climate system, and how this might change under future climate scenarios. To carry out my research I use a combination of theory and models, from ocean-only to coupled, of different complexity at both global and regional scales. My current research interests span a wide range of topics, from the low frequency variability and predictability of the Atlantic, Pacific and Southern Oceans, to the energy transport in the climate system, to the role played by mesoscale eddies in the ocean circulation.
